10 Of Nintendo's Weirdest & Most Forgotten Gaming Experiments
4. Doshin The Giant
Nintendo's Doshin the Giant is, in the words of designer Kazutoshi Iida, "Populous meets Mario". In other words, it simplifies the notoriously complex god game genre to the basest elements.
The island of Barudo worships Doshin the Love Giant, a bubbly and friendly giant who rises with the sun. As a god figure to the native islanders, you follow their whims by warping the world around them, bringing them trees, answering prayers, and altering the geography to manage natural disasters.
Your kind actions earn their love and respect, which makes you grow even larger in size until you can finally unite all four of the tribes together. D'aww, isn't it adorable what love can accomplish?
Of course, if your people are getting attacked by rival islanders (or you're just feeling a little mean tonight), you can turn into Jashin the Hate Giant, a flying bringer of death, and torch and eradicate everything you see before you.
Wouldn't be a god game if you can't throw a little chaos into the mix yourself. Be honest, we've all spent hours mashing SimCity's disaster buttons.
