5. Celestial Emissary - Bloodborne (2015)

Depending on how you interpret the lore, virtually everything in Bloodborne that isn't human used to be at some point or another. From werewolves and trolls to mashed-up abominations straight out of your worst nightmares, Yharnam's freakish denizens were once all one and the same.

However, most of these transformations come from the beast scourge or an unfortunate excess of enlightenment. When people start making their own post-human horrors, that's a whole new ball game altogether.

Celestial emissaries are the creations of the secretive Healing Church sector, The Choir, birthing them from unwilling test subjects, The Choir's goal is to create a being able to communicate with the Great Ones of the Cosmos, serving as an intermediary link between themselves and Ebrietas, the abandoned Great One that they keep in the Upper Cathedral Ward.

Alien-like in both appearance and behaviour, these bulb-headed blue men can draw arcane power from the cosmos, making them quite deceptively lethal in certain situations. Many attempts are made to perfect the organisms, resulting in 'failed' emissaries coldly discarded all over Yharnam.

And not even your fellow NPCs are safe from this fate, should you leave them in the care of one oddly changeable doctor...
