10 Overhyped Upcoming Video Games That Could Disappoint You

4. Spider-Man

Spider-Man PS4 Swinging

Alright, look. Spider-Man on PS4 will be brilliant. It'll be solid, enjoyable, fun - whoever many words you can think of that communicate "Worth the money video game"... but it won't be another 2004 Spidey, nor another Ultimate Spider-Man. At least not in terms of cultural impact.

Why? Because across the board, Insomniac are playing it safe. Even as I type this I'm struggling to think of all-new mechanics or frameworks within this new game, that we haven't seen in almost every past Spider-Man game so far.

Props to Insomniac for prioritising a physics-based swinging system for open-world traversal, but doing so taps into the idea that this is essentially "chasing" the status of that fateful second movie tie-in from back in the day.

Again, everything will be fantastic, amazing even, but the irksome feeling that "it's all been done before" will boil over into disappointment for some at launch.
