10 Overlooked Upcoming Games You MUST Consider
9. Baby Steps
Baby Steps is a collaboration between Bennett Foddy - of Getting Over It fame - and Ape Out devs Gabe Cuzzillo and Maxi Boch, and looks set to offer up a hilariously bizarre take on the well-trod walking simulator genre.
Players are thrust into the shoes of Nate, a jobless schlub who is suddenly transported from his basement couch to a strange land, where he discovers the most unexpected of abilities - putting one foot in front of the other.
From here, players need to guide Nate step by step as he hikes up a mountain, the physics-based gameplay giving players manual control of Nate's feet, in turn making slapstick pratfalls a regular occurrence.
Foddy has also stated that Baby Steps will be considerably less punishing and more casual-minded than his previous games, with players able to find numerous paths up the mountain ranging from breezy(ish) to treacherously difficult.
As an antidote to all those aggressively self-serious, mega-budget AAA games coming our way in the next few months, Baby Steps couldn't be arriving at a more opportune time.
Baby Steps releases on September 8.
