10 Overlooked Video Games We All Know Are True Classics

2. Ultimate Spider-Man

As gamers, we've seen dozens of Spider-Man titles over the years on multiple consoles, and with the recent release of Spider-Man on Playstation 4 they have only increased in quality. But there was a time before this Marvel explosion, a time called the early 2000s.

The Sam Raimi films were popular (at least at first), and we actually had a few good movie tie-in games. Between the second and third films, a little company called Treyarch release a comic-inspired game called Ultimate Spider-Man.

It received mediocre reviews, but it did not deserve this treatment.

In this game you of course play as Spider-Man, and can travel freely around a comic book-style New York. But this isn’t the best bit, as you also get to play as the antihero Venom, who just wants to wreak havoc and eat people.

This back and forth between Spider-Man and Venom lets you see the impact the latter has on the city, and is one of the most enjoyable parts of the game. Put this together with an intriguing story and appearances from S.H.E.I.L.D and Nick Fury himself, and you’ve got the recipe for a Marvel story that could fit in the cinematic universe.
