10 Overlooked Video Games We All Know Are True Classics
1. Okami
From its art style to its use of the so-called “Celestial Brush", there is nothing quite like Okami.
This game has yet to age, looking as good today as it does through the rose-tinted glasses in your mind. The beautiful ink wash style and cel-shaded design has held up better than the designers could have ever hoped for.
You control Okami, the goddess of the sun in the form of a white wolf.
You must travel through past Japan to help the inhabitants and stop a great evil from taking over the land. Through this tale of Japanese folklore, you can use the previously mentioned Celestial Brush to help you.
You draw circles to create great wind, fix bridges by painting on them, or even draw through enemies to slash them. This unique puzzle-solving and combat was uncommon at the time, and is yet to be done as well.
Unfortunately, Okami suffered from low sales and the only sequel was on the Nintendo DS. Now however, it is widely considered to be one of the best games ever made (at least by those who've played), and with a HD re-release, there’s no excuse to not enjoy a journey through Japanese folklore.
