10 Overpowered Items That Broke Video Games
5. Explosive Combat Shotgun - Fallout 4
Thanks to its extensive weapon modding systems, Fallout 4 offered up a wide range of opportunities to add flame projectiles or plasma-throwing capabilities to your ordinary weapons.
As a random ‘Legendary’ weapon drop, you’re never guaranteed to pick up an explosive combat shotgun, and if you were lucky/unlucky enough to find one, it pretty much eliminated any element of challenge from the game.
The gun is extremely powerful at both close range and long range. Although one would expect explosive shells to have even wider spread and shorter range then regular shotgun shells, in Fallout 4 they seem to make the combat shotgun even more accurate from longer distances. As a demonstration of how powerful the weapon is, it’s capable of offing a Mirelurk Queen – one of the game’s most powerful enemies – in just a couple of shots from medium range.
As a result, you eventually find yourself skipping from fight to fight without ever having to break a sweat. So long as an enemy isn’t standing 800 metres away at the top of a bell tower, they’re probably going to be easy work.
War never changes? It does when you’ve got the explosive combat shotgun. War gets boring pretty fast.
