10 Overpowered Video Game Weapons That Gave Players Nightmares

5. The DK Hammer - Super Smash Bros Series

When a weapon is almost exclusively banned from professional tournaments due to how overpowered it is, you know it's bad.

The DK hammer in the smash series is the last true remnant of the game's original routes when it wasn't taken so seriously. A player who picked up this power-up gained a thumping hammer that sent bodies flying off-screen left and right the second one foreign pixel touched that metal hammerhead.

No skill is needed, you just run around invincible to others attacks as they desperately scurry from you hoping the timer for the attack runs out. To top it all off, the cheery Donkey Kong theme tune plays the whole time no doubt ruining the nostalgic kick it once had and replacing that feeling with disdain.

Its damage output is ridiculous, it can turn the tide in only one use and it lasts a lengthy eight seconds before ending. It's the bane of most Smash players, beyond someone choosing Meta knight in Brawl.
