10 Overpowered Video Game Weapons That Gave Players Nightmares

4. The Pistol - Halo: Combat Evolved

When you and your friends tend to avoid all other weapons and just stick with the first gun you's have, you know that is one hell of a starting weapon.

This is a handgun with nearly no negatives to speak of when it comes to combat, as it has a fast rate of fire, good reload speed, and completely unrealistic damage output for a pistol. Especially when you're firing the thing at armored super-soldiers covered in shields.

While other weapons had a lot of flashy styles and could go boom, there was just nothing more satisfying than planting a headshot with this thing at range on a buddy carrying a seemingly more powerful rocket launcher.

The pistol was so legendarily overpowered that in the immediate sequel they took away its zoom function and nerfed it to the point it was practically useless. The fact Bungie felt the need to do this speaks volumes as to the effectiveness of the gun itself.

Pin-point accuracy, a zoom function, and only a couple of hits to register a kill made this one of the most powerful handguns in all of gaming.
