10 Overpowered Video Game Weapons That Gave Players Nightmares

2. The M16 - Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (2007)

Modern Warfare was a breath of fresh air when it was first released in 2007 and revitalized multiplayer for first-person shooters forever. It also gave players their first taste of infamously terrible balancing in COD games with the forever overpowered M16.

Contrary to most burst-fire rifles, this one packed a hell of a punch, and few things could come close to the damage output of this beast. It also sported zero recoil, meaning you could swiftly scour the battlefield and one-shot enemies without much need to regain your composure.

In the fast-paced gameplay of COD, it's who hits first and hardest that wins the skirmish. The M16 gave players all they needed to trump any other offense coming at them. When you add in perks and the triple frag ability on top of this then taking over a game was possible for even the most casual of players.

There was never a match taking place without this thing dominating the kill-list, and the fact it never received a nerf despite a community long pining for the thing to get a downgrade for years is baffling.
