10 Perfect Video Games That Actually Lived Up To The Hype

6. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty

A game so good, even after hours and hours (and hours) of playing the demo that came bundled with Zone of the Enders (a fantastic little game people only bought to get their hands on this extra), the full version proved it was all just a drop in the ocean of ridiculous Japanese entertainment. If you genuinely thought 'Raiden ruined the game' because he wasn't Snake, well, you fell hook, line and sinker into creator Hideo Kojima's trap - as that was entirely the point. The switch-up in narrative perspective was done precisely to make you realise just how badass and perfect Snake was at his job, forever making you wish you could play as him again. A devious manoeuvre then (and one that makes you wonder if he could get away with it today), but something that for diehard fans of the first game's individual brand of crazy, just made them lap everything up even more. MGS 2 was Kojima's way of extending a hand to all those who would decide to follow him from here on out, and for all those that said yes, it was one hell of a ride.
