Easily the finest strategy game money can buy on consoles this year (what up, Civ 6), no matter how many times you employ all sorts of elaborate strategies to fend off the nefarious aliens who now call Earth their home, XCOM 2's randomly-generated scenarios ensure each battle is different.

It's mainly thanks to XCOM 2 being regarded as a 'PC only' title, that its later release many months later on PS4 and Xbox One went somewhat unnoticed, but developers Firaxis have done a remarkable job yet again when it comes to making such an elaborate and stat-heavy game feel natural on a gamepad.

Indeed, every fight is one for survival as if anyone dies, they're gone forever, so you better have put your characters in the right place and given them the right orders, otherwise that save file is going south mighty fast.

There's no feeling of tension and incremental, "We can do this" resolve like playing XCOM 2, and I urge you to try it for yourself.
