10 Phenomenal PS4 & Xbox One Games Nobody Is Playing
6. Mafia III
It feels like Mafia III's release came and went in the press, despite high sales figures and consumer response being pretty positive. Not to mention its open-world is one of the best in years, packed full of unique narrative framing devices like racially-motivated police response times based on where you are on the map, or the game itself including one of the best era-appropriate soundtracks since GTA: Vice City.
All of the above factors into a very immersive story, its opening bouncing between timelines to elaborate on characters through a documentary retrospective, before cutting back and letting you play out the events in question.
Yes, there's a ton of repetition when it comes to the third-person action on offer, but when you've got fantastic writing, a risky time period and a cast of characters that all deserve their place in gaming's history books, Mafia III deserves to be praised far more than chastised, especially if you're hankering for another great open-world crime game.
