10 POINTLESS Video Game Mechanics Gamers Always Use

6. Stance Flip - Mortal Kombat / Injustice

Scientists, Psychologists, Scholars and Archaeologists the world over are at a loss to explain exactly what the purpose of changing your stance in fighting games such as Mortal Kombat and the Injustice games actually is.

For all intents and purposes, the developers have allocated a specific button on the controller to 'just turning round a bit'.

The player presses said button, and their character does a little hop, and where once we saw their front, we now see their back.

That is literally it; there's nothing more to it than that.

To be fair, some players may be able to more easily work out special moves and button combos whilst viewing their character from a certain angle, but this is by no means a key feature of Kombat.

What we really use this button for is to annoy our opponents.

Continually pressing this button will see your character jump on the spot, turning their shoulders left and right between orthodox and southpaw stance, not to gain a tactical advantage, not to charge up a meter, no... We do this just to annoy and distract our hapless adversary.

Komplete madness.
