4. Sword Of Khaine - Total War: Warhammer II
The Sword of Khaine is a legendary blade of the Warhammer universe’s god of war and murder, Khaine, which makes an appearance in the second installment of the Total War: Warhammer series.
The sword is infused with a curse that makes its user incredibly powerful in battle, giving them a huge buff to their damage and access to a devastating fire spell, but in exchange, it also lowers your faction's stability.
The trade-off might seem good at first, but if you’re not careful, the Sword of Khaine can very quickly turn from one of the best items in the game into the worst item to ever spite your playthrough.
The reason for this is that the sword’s curse increases over time, and while at first its public order penalty isn’t too great, over time it rises to values that will create waves of rebellion within your faction, destroying it from within.
The only way to get rid of the curse at that point is to let the sword’s wielder die in battle, so if you don’t want to ruin your campaign, make sure to change the weapon’s owner frequently... or don’t pick it up in the first place.
