1. Suicide Mission - Mass Effect 2

It's likely that with this middle chapter of Bioware's prolific sci-fi RPG series, the company hit a high-point the likes of which will never be seen again.

ME2 is easily one of the greatest games of all time, and following almost one hundred hours in the company of some of the best written characters known to gaming - it then tasked you with keeping them all alive - the endgame happening regardless of how many made it through the final assault.

It's not called the 'Suicide Mission' for nothing, as outcomes range from your entire squad making it through to see the likes of Mass Effect 3, just yourself, or neither - leaving just the ship's pilot Joker staring off into space on an empty vessel, only the ship's A.I. for company.

Incredibly powerful stuff, and although Bioware would drop the ball and sit on it with ME3's ending, part two remains the most solid of the three.
