10 Problems That Stop Popular Video Game Companies Being Perfect
3. Bethesda's Review Policy Is Killing Their Games
Over the past few years, Bethesda Softworks has established itself as the publisher of some of the best single-player games of the decade so far. But the problem is that they're trying their best to make sure you don't know about them.
Ever since the release of Doom the company has refused to give out review copies for their games ahead of time, meaning that critical opinion on the titles hasn't been available for customers to draw from when deciding whether or not to buy their games.
The publisher doesn't owe it to anyone to give them an early copy, but for years players have learned that not giving out a review copy is usually the sign of a publisher attempting to hide the fact that their game is terrible.
So when great titles like Dishonored 2, or more recently this year's Prey, have come out with no scores attached to them, most players decided to give them a miss because of the stigma attached to games that release without reviews at the ready.
