10 PS1 Games That Still Look Good In 2018
6. Tomba 2: The Evil Swine Return (2000)
Tomba 2: The Evil Swine Return is one of the most eye-catching video games in existance. During a time in which developers were still concerning themselves with colorful platformer mascots, developer Whoopee Camp put out a game that, stylistically, could go toe-to-toe with Mario.
That sounds like a bold statement, but Tomba 2 offers so much visual variety and such an intense, varied color pallet that it's very hard to forget. Visually stunning in much the same way as Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time, Tomba 2 is made all the more compelling by including the sort of quirky humor often found in games like Donkey Kong 64 or Banjo Kazooie.
It may not be quite as well remembered as some other PS1 classics, but Tomba 2 showcases what made the console so great. Innovative and beautiful despite the limitations of the hardware on which it ran, the game's cartoony, colorful atmosphere still outpaces some of today's dull, murkier games.
Tomba isn't a Nintendo property, but it certainly looks like it should be one.
