10 PS1 Games That Still Look Good In 2018

7. In Cold Blood (2001)

Konami's Metal Gear Solid is undoubtedly the de facto stealth espionage title on the original PlayStation, but 2001's In Cold Blood was, though not nearly as well remembered, and equally solid experience. What's more, the latter game may actually look better now that the game it was trying to emulate, as the original MGS game looks extremely rough by today's standards.

Relying on a series of expertly crafted pre-rendered backgrounds, In Cold Blood succeeds where others failed because it seems to recognize that the PS1 wasn't quite capable of delivering realistic-looking, fully 3D environments. Nothing against games that attempted this sort of art style, but In Cold Blood just looks so much better in comparison.

Much like it's Japanese-developed counterpart, In Cold Blood featured what must be hours worth of spoken dialogue, and it builds effectively on the semi-hoakey James Bond-esque plot.

Quality stealth titles are few and far between these days, and it's surprising to see that, despite it's slightly wonky control scheme and relative obscurity, In Cold Blood still holds up well enough 17 years after its initial release.
