10 Rarest PS1 Games Ever

8. Tactics Ogre

New: $200 | Used $65 Judging by this list, the best genre in which to pick up a game that might one day become a collectible is the tactical, turn-based JRPG. Tactics Ogre is just such a game from Square Enix, originally released on the Super Famicom (that's SNES for you common folk), and later ported to the PSX where it had a limited release. Tactics Ogre is part of the Ogre series, which was reasonably popular in the early-mid 90s. It's an sweeping tale about an oppressed kingdom, in which players control one Denam Pavel in his quest to lead an army to free it from its despotic ruler. The game has a heavily strategic turn-based combat system and - uniquely for its time - a branching plot in which your decisions impact the storyline. The game is not only rare, but also so cherished by those who own it that it's not easy to find people willing to sell it, helping to drive its value up over the years.
