10 Reasons To Be Excited About Telltale's Game Of Thrones Video Game

6. Consequences

Choices inevitably lead to consequences, and this is a huge theme in Martin's novels. Ned is killed for letting his honour override his intelligence, Winterfell is burned to the ground because of Theon's treachery, and let's not forget Bran's little fall at the hands of Jaime Lannister. All of these decisions made by the characters have a huge impact on the world in which they live; I want to see this first hand. Like the series and the novels, this game should be punishingly cruel if you make bad decisions - and by bad I don't mean evil. As they say in Westeros: "when you play the game of thrones, you win or you die." The game should force you out of your comfort zone and punish you for weakness. George R.R. Martin's no softy where characters are concerned, which means Telltale can't be either. In a world where power is currency, it's a safe bet that your character will be someone with aspirations of greater things. The ideal balance of characterization, to put it simplistically, would be switching between a character like Tyrion and another like Bronn. One of them would play the political game while the other would fight their wars. It would create a good game play dynamic as well as varying the choices and consequences each character must face.
