Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been in the hands of gamers for a little while now, and it's safe to say that it's caused a far stronger divide among fans than any other game in the series.
To some, Infinite Warfare may tout a gorgeous campaign and business-as-usual multiplayer mayhem, but to others it's a colossal letdown, and a hugely disappointing indication of a franchise that may very well have just put itself out to pasture.
With more competition than ever before and a mixture of press and gamers who feel empowered to bite back against money-grubbing publishers, it's safe to say that the series' glory days may finally be winding down.
If Activision wants to restore CoD's reputation as one of the most-anticipated franchises every year without fail, they're going to need to majorly shake things up for future titles. Given how unlikely that is to actually happen, here are 10 reasons Infinite Warfare just killed Call of Duty...
10. Multiplayer Is A Broken Mess
Infinite Warfare's multiplayer has been one of the most crushing gaming disappointments of 2016, given the usually robust nature of the online suites in even the "lesser" entries into the series.
The main issue stems from the game's lag compensation, which can result in players on faster connections being shot within mere miliseconds of seeing an enemy, in a misguided attempt to level the playing field regardless of connection speed.
This makes competitive play something of a chore (reaching Prestige feels like it takes forever), and fans the world over have expressed their outrage at Infinity Ward for releasing something so fundamentally broken.
Even the release of a patch has done little to fix the time-to-kill issues, and given how many buy CoD solely for its multiplayer, this kills one of Infinite Warfare's big selling points.
Needless to say, a lot of players will probably hold off on buying the next CoD at launch (if at all), and wait for word on any lag comp/TTK issues.
