10 Reasons Spider-Man PS4 Is The PERFECT Spider-Man Movie
Waiting for the next Spidey MCU instalment? Insomniac has you covered.
Our favourite everyday neighbourhood hero has appeared in so many forms, from the pages of comic books to the heights of box office stardom. There's a reason we keep going back time and again to the character, which mostly comes down to his relatable problems and determined attitude.
In 2018, the always-reliable Insomniac Games delivered their own rendition to the masses, delivering another brilliant exclusive for PS4 while giving the Batman Arkham series a run for its money.
The latest and greatest Spider-Man game is widely regarded as one of finest superhero experiences ever produced, but it's also that rare passion project that leaps beyond its format to become a brilliant story that will please any long-term fan of the webhead.
I recently finished playing through and was thrilled by its story, attention to detail and all the little details.
As we've got some time to go until Tom Holland's Spider-Man makes his back to the silver screen for a third entry in the MCU, here are just a few reasons why Spider-Man PS4 is a great way to fill that gap.
10. It Nails Spider-Man Just As Well As The Movies
What are some of the things you remember fondly about the red-suited webslinger? For many it's his realistic problems, steadfast determination and sense of humour beneath the mask.
The likes of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland have all put their own spins on the character in movies, but for the video game, Insomniac Games chose Yuri Lowenthal, a veteran voice actor with fifteen years of experience in games overall. Suffice it to say, he did a fantastic job, standing alongside all the performers who have come before.
Lowenthal's performance is a brilliant portrayal of both Spider-Man and Peter Parker, with both humour and more emotional moments provided in equal measure. On one hand, Spider-Man's jokes and uplifting attitude in the worst of times complement the gameplay brilliantly and on the other, Peter's close bonds with his friends and family are beautifully conveyed. You really get the sense he cares for both them and the city he fights to protect.
What's most surprising about Yuri is that he's able to play a character half his age, adapting voice work to fit the younger Spider-Man. It pulls the player into the story and keeps them fully invested.
