10 Reasons Super Mario World Is The Best 2D Mario Of All Time
1. The Colour Design Is So Much More Vibrant
With the exception of a couple of levels from the North American Super Mario Bros. 2 and a handful of sections from Super Mario Bros. 3, the colour design of the Mario franchise wasn't much to write home about.
It was fine for the time and definitely not something people were ever going to complain about, but it was only when Super Mario World was released that gamers began to realise what they had been missing out on.
Even the New Super Mario Bros. series has issues with its colours, with so many levels and worlds overusing certain colours and contributing to some pretty bland experiences, whether that be on the console or handheld titles.
With Super Mario World, it was once again the improved hardware that meant that Nintendo could finally begin to throw in all of the colours of the rainbow into their Mario franchise, and set about creating worlds that would be able to showcase all of their vibrant colour palettes.
What's even more special about Super Mario World and its colours however, is how carefully they've all been put in, blending together nicely at times and then contrasting against eachother at others, helping to create the most vibrant title in the SNES era of gaming.
