10 Reasons To Be Worried About E3 2016's Hottest Video Games
4. Quake Champions - Too Much Overwatch Envy?
It's been too long since Quake III Arena ruled the world of multiplayer shooters. In the years that have followed since iD's multiplayer masterpiece ruled the internet, we've seen shooter becomes slower, more realistic and less focused on the art of the frag. Though many of these games were excellent in their own right, the industry has long suffered from a deficit of Quake III-style games.
Ideally, that void will be fulfilled by the recently announced Quake Champions, but there were a few keywords in the description of this game that make it easy to worry that perhaps even Quake has moved on from its glory days. Aspects like the game's diverse cast of unique characters with original abilities sound like they're more at home in a game like Overwatch and not the Quake multiplayer that fans know and love.
Everyone involved with the project is verbally insisting that this is 'classic Quake', but between the constant keyword dropping and the disappointing nature of DOOM's multiplayer, there are plenty of reasons to be suspicious.
