Each game in the Left 4 Dead style comes with its own unique additions, but the basics are universal: lots of enemies, lots of weapons, lots of blood.

Fighting hordes of low HP foes dotted with specialised classes, this kind of gameplay makes for an adrenaline-pumping experience. Relying on intuitive reactions, teamwork and an ability to quickly take advantage of surrounding terrain, the campaigns of these games are a tense series of steadily increasing challenges.

Set across differing environments and with a plethora of foes, the ability to adapt to new challenges will be paramount.

Fat Shark, the developer of Vermintide and Vermintide 2, have already proven their skill at making this style of game. With the technology of the 41st Millennium we're getting closer to the bullets and bombs of the original Left 4 Dead. Meanwhile, we're confident that melee will get it's due focus through an abundance of chainswords.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
