10 Reasons Why We Need A Resident Evil CODE: Veronica Remake
4. Alfred Ashford
Alfred Ashford was a by-product of the experiment which created his sister, Alexia. Alfred feels a deep sense of loathing for himself and his father who labelled him as a mistake.
Alfred’s grandfather, Edward Ashford, was one of the founding members of the Umbrella Corporation alongside Oswell E. Spencer and James Marcus. However, once the other founders were no longer useful to him, Spencer had them assassinated so he could claim sole control over Umbrella.
Twenty years later and the Ashford’s are much diminished. Alfred now serves Spencer in an administration role, but he fantasises about revenge and restoring his family to glory.
Alfred hopes his sister Alexia will be the one to achieve this; he is utterly devoted to her and it’s also heavily implied their relationship is incestuous (there are some big Cersei and Jaime Lannister vibes between the two siblings).
Alfred is a compelling and creepy villain, driven by a strange mixture of bravado and his underlying inferiority complex. If handled right, there would be potential to elevate the character even further much in the same way Chief Irons was in the RE2make.
