10 Reasons Why We Need A Resident Evil CODE: Veronica Remake

5. Potential for improvement

CODE: Veronica is unburdened by the classic status of the more likely candidate for the next remake, Resident Evil 4. Any major changes to RE4 could prove divisive to fans while the former would provide Capcom with greater creative license.

There’s more than a little concern among fans regarding a prospective RE4 remake. While no one doubts that Capcom can do justice to the gameplay, much of RE4’s charm would be lost if it were to have its glorious B-movie story changed to something less bonkers.

Think of everything we could miss: Leon trading puns and dad jokes with the various antagonists, that enormous robot of Ramon Salazar that comes out of nowhere and chases you down that corridor, and of course, Helicopter Mike. There’s no suggestion all that would be cut from an RE4 remake, but if those elements were included it would be a tonal departure from the other more grounded remakes.

CODE: Veronica on the other hand seems ideally suited to the formula established by the other remakes while providing Capcom with plenty of opportunities to tweak things just enough to surprise returning players.
