Now, it doesn't take deep lore or profound characterization to make most people not feel like a winner for murdering a dog. It's pretty much a universally agreed upon d*ck move, regardless of circumstances or context.

But that didn't stop Dark Souls from putting some deep ass lore in there anyway just to twist the knife. One of the most famous fights in Dark Souls' by now legendary rogues gallery is The Great Grey Wolf Sif, who attacks you when you get too close to a weird looking stone, armed with a giant sword in its mouth.

But as you learn when you dive into the flavor text and the context clues hidden throughout the fight itself, it gets even sadder, which is a feat considering this fight already has the poor pup start limping when you wittle down its health far enough.

Turns out that the grave belongs to Sif's now dead master Artorias and it's protecting the grave from you because it believes you to be here to defile it. And now you gotta put down Ole Yeller.
