7. Praey For The Gods

Battlefield 2042
No Matter

It's impossible to talk about Praey for the Gods without discussing Shadow of the Colossus. This 2005 action-adventurer revolves around a hero who travels across the world to slay giant monsters, usually by scaling their bodies. Shadow of the Colossus was considered arguably the best game on the PS2, and among the best video games ever.

Now, imagine how this masterpiece would've turned out if the developers didn't perfect the climbing mechanics. Because the entire game revolves around clambering up skyscraper-sized behemoths, Shadow of the Colossus would've failed if the creators didn't fine-tune the controls to perfection.

And that's exactly what went wrong with Praey for the Gods. Although the player is supposed to scale monsters just like in Colossus, the climbing mechanics are so shoddy, you regularly fall off the creature you are ascending for seemingly no reason. Here's a tip for developers - if you don't know how to make a mechanic work, don't make it a pivotal part of the gameplay.

The visual designs are breathtaking but that's not enough to accommodate the lousy gameplay. Praey is so diabolical, it makes you appreciate Colossus more since it's better in every way, despite coming out 17 years ago.
