10 Recent Video Games With Disastrous Launches You Didn't Realise Got Fixed
7. Dragon's Dogma 2
Though Dragon's Dogma 2 launched to positive critical reviews out of the gate, the player response was a whole other story.
Between the cheekiness of microtransactions being switched on after reviews had dropped and generally poor optimisation resulting in terrible performance on even capable PCs, the game debuted to a "Mostly Negative" rating on Steam.
And while the microtransactions were at least largely for items which could be easily acquired in-game, it was an entire six months before Capcom finally released a patch which vastly cut down on CPU bottlenecks for PC players.
The September 17th Title Update remedied many performance issues and also introduced a less-punishing Casual Mode for players who found the base experience too punishing.
This contributed to the Steam rating changing to "Mixed," though the patch didn't make much of an impact at all on the game's Steam player count, suggesting that many bounced off before the fix and never came back.
