10 Retro FPS Games We Need On Consoles
2. Blood
An underrated gem if ever there was one! Unlike its contemporaries Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem, it's never received any updates, remasters or sequels on consoles. There is currently an enhanced edition available to P.C. gamers in the form of Blood: Fresh Supply, but still no talk of a console release.
If Duke is an homage to cheesy action movies and Shadow Warrior cheesy martial arts movies, then this is all about the horror. This game oozes style and atmosphere (oozing being the operative word) with its gothic and southern gothic setting as well as more outlandish OTT secret levels (like a carnival).
It's a challenging game, as was the style at the time, but still approachable to newcomers. Explosions, gore, and viscera fly everywhere and the lead character Caleb spouts one liners just as fast as his peers; there's a lot to love. Its influence still can be seen and felt today in games like Dusk and Project Warlock.
If it can create that kind of impact, surely it makes sense to allow the millions of console gamers a chance to play.
