8. Gun Heels (Bayonetta)
In the wildly overcrowded hack 'n slash genre, here's one game that manages to distinguish itself superbly with a character that has hormonal teenage boys everywhere foaming at the mouth, while those of us old enough to remember when video games were unabashedly sexist see it as something of an awkward throwback. Indeed, the loony appeal of Bayonetta is not so much the laughably revealing PVC outfit that the curvaceous protagonist is wearing, but the rather unconventional way she wears her weapons. Though Bayonetta wields guns in her hands like any reasonable action hero, she also has a pair attached to her high heels, and given that she spends a good portion of the game flipping around with her legs in the air, that's probably a pretty good, if completely insane idea. What makes it truly daft is that the game never really makes an effort to explain how the Hell these things work; where in her heel do they slot in, and more importantly, how on Earth does she fire them?
