10 Most Ridiculously Over-The-Top Examples Of Gaming Censorship

9. The Last Of Us

Even if you've been living under the most isolated of rocks over the past year, chances are you'd still have heard of Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us. The heartbreaking tale Joel and Ellie was one of the highlights of 2013 and was a perfect way to say goodbye to the ageing PS3. What you may not know is that the multi-player portion of the game was censored in PAL countries. European players were deprived of blowing an enemy's head clean off with a shorty and using nail bombs to make it rain human body parts. The Last Of Us was censored in the entire PAL region in order to comply with the strict ratings regulations of Germany and Australia. It doesn't really make much sense when you consider that dismemberment was not censored in the single-player campaign, yet it was in the multi-player.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
