1. Every Colossi (Shadow Of The Colossus)
Call this cheating, but in a game like this, you can't pick just one. In Shadow of the Colossus, you play as a young man named Wander, trying to bring someone close to him back to life. Travelling to a forbidden land, he’s told by a spirt that if he destroys sixteen colossi then it will gain the power to bring his loved one back to life. He sets out to defeat these giant monsters that roam this now empty land. As you cut each one down, you notice two things: they rarely attack you first.
Slowly destroying the last living things this land has to offer, you fell the last beast and discover they were guardians keeping an evil spirit at bay. Knowing these now peaceful beasts’ blood is on your hands is enough, but you’ve also given this evil spirit its power back. The game ends with the spirit taking over Wander and leading to his death at the hands of the soldiers who arrive to reseal the spirit. In a true twist, the spirt goes through with Wander's wish and his love awakens.
Killing one sad boss is bad but sixteen is enough to wrack anyone with guilt.
