2. Orphan Of Kos (Bloodborne)
With most of Bloodborne’s behind you, by the time you reach the Old Hunters DLC you feel confident slaying beasts and the ungodly Lovecraftian monsters that hide in the shadows. Killing Lady Maria leaves you feeling high, but the Orphan of Kos will slap you out of that feeling for sure. The child to the dead, Orphan of Kos, is birthed into the world completely alone after the people who saw Kos as a threat killed her out of fear.
Leading up to the fight, you can hear the nightmarish cries of it before walking onto the beach. Even into the fight among the screams of its attacks, it continues to cry while seeking revenge for its mother. If the story wasn't sad enough, the boss fight itself is one of the most challenging in a game filled with nothing but difficult boss fights. Its screams continue to sound more like pain than a threating cry, and as the Orphan falls, you are left on the beach alone with no further way to progress.
You went into the hunter’s nightmare to uncover a secret and you found it. You don’t feel rewarded after this fight. Just sorry.
