10 Saddest Soulsborne Bosses

8. Genichiro, Way Of Tomoe

Before Sekiro was even released, we knew Genichiro was going to be bad news. As the man who cuts off your arm in single combat, as well as defending and running an entire region, there's no better set up for a powerful and unrepentant antagonist.

So when we encounter him again at the end of the game, it's hard not to feel a little bit sorry at seeing how far the mighty have fallen.

Because he uses the same moveset as all his previous fights, final form Genichiro is laughably easy. As someone who was once Sekrio's biggest threat, it's kind of heartbreaking to see how frail he's become to save Ashina.

You almost don't want to fight him. And when you beat him, (in what is likely record time) you just want to give him a hug.

What's that Genichiro? Yeah, it is sad how much you've lost. No, you're not any closer to winning. Why don't you just put the sword down now, ok? Wait, what's that coming out of your neck? No, Genichiro, mate, don't do this to yourself, it's not worth the effort.

Even his resurrected spiritual Grandad practically spits on his grave. Poor, poor guy.
