10 Saddest Soulsborne Bosses
4. Laurence, The First Vicar
Even before turning into a giant, flaming werewolf, Laurence was not exactly the happiest of people. And then he turned into a GIANT FLAMING WEREWOLF.
While this bossfight is spectacularly hard, and one of the greatest challenges that Bloodborne has to offer, you wouldn't know that from the way this boss conducts himself.
Even at full health, Laurence is very obviously in great pain, moving and swaying like a drunken minister at the pulpit, as the flames take over his massive, hairy body.
Usually, in FromSoft bossfights, the succeeding phases of each boss show it getting stronger, and tougher, as each stage of the fight increases in difficulty. Not so for Laurence, who begins each new phase by disintegrating more and more.
This culminates in the final phase, in which you're only fighting the upper torso of Laurence, the rest of him having been burnt to cinders.
Watching him drag himself around on his one remaining arm, as he screams with violent incoherence, sort of makes you want to forgive for the last 20 times he one-shotted you with that stupid AoE attack. Sort of.
What it definitely does, is make you wish you never woke this poor guy up in the first place.
