10 Saddest Soulsborne Bosses
5. King Vendrick
From the very tutorial of Dark Souls 2, King Vendrick's name is mentioned. In fact, throughout most of the game, the man's hinted to be the final boss, much like Gwyn was in the original.
So when we finally meet Vendrick, about three quarters of the way through Dark Souls 2, as a shambling, shuffling zombie dragging himself around a prison cell, you could be forgiven for not even recognising the ruler from all the stories you've been told.
The forgotten King is so sad and pathetic, in fact, that he's not even compulsory. The player can completely ignore him, as if the man who kickstarted the entire storyline just isn't worth the time of day.
If you do choose to attack him, the fight isn't that impressive. He has a few damaging attacks, but no visually amazing displays or uber powerful one shot hits. The fight's theme is muted and pitiful, much like the King himself, and it's unlikely he'll take more than one try to defeat.
He's not worth the effort, honestly. It could even be said that defeating him is a "Hollow" victory. Get it? Hollow? Okay, let's move on.
