10 Most Scandalous Gaming Moments Of 2014

8. Hatred€™s Developers Are White Supremacists

At a time when the impact of violence in the real world has been at its highest, with bloody wars still being fought across the globe and American culture especially being wracked by a series of highly publicised killings (usually with guns, usually white men killing young unarmed black men), the trailer that announced upcoming €œrampage simulator€ Hatred seemed particularly wrongheaded. And it only got worse from there. This was also at a time when games were dealing with that constant image problem, with most outside observers being of the opinion that they€™re all just murder simulators anyway. Which obviously isn€™t true, but Hatred looks to be some pretty damning evidence to the contrary. Seriously, just see how much of this video you can get through before feeling sick to your stomach. The icing on the cake of all that was the response of developers Destructive Creations to the initial reactions to the game, making out like they were on a righteous crusade against the ill-defined €œpolitical correctness brigade€. Which should€™ve been a tip off to the fact that said developers have turned out to be Neo-Nazis - or at least, they look it based on their fashion choices. Yay! Video games!
