10 Scariest Video Game Moments Nobody Saw Coming

6. Outlast Whistleblower's Groom

Outlast Whistleblower The Groom
Red Barrels

Sadists may may even have found first-person nightmare-simulator Outlast to be an enjoyable experience. As brave journalist Miles Upshur, the full extent of the horrors inside Mount Massive Asylum are unveiled. By the time you've hid in countless lockers, underneath dozens of beds and blazed through hundreds of camera batteries, you may even crave a little more.

The Whistleblower DLC offers up another slice of Red Barrels twisted fantasy land, and it doesn't waste any time with the scares. Right off the bat, Waylon Park (the DLC's unfortunate protagonist) is on the run from bearded psychopath Frank Minera, who just so happens to be wielding a bone saw. Lovely.

Once Minera has been invaded, Whistleblower gets even scarier, and we didn't see that coming. Eddie Gliskin, a man who delights in sexually mutilating male genitalia so that he may have the "perfect bride" and calls himself 'The Groom', is next up. The moment Gliskin introduces himself to the player will go with us to our graves.

One word: "Darling".
