10 Scummiest Moves Made By Video Game Publishers
6. Konami Keeping Kojima From The Game Awards
Kojima is
well known throughout the videogame industry as one of the most creative minds
out there. Creating the amazing Metal Gear series that he's loved and worked on
for years. However, what Konami did to him when The Phantom Pain was realized
was some of the scummiest things ever seen in the gaming industry.
Konami started by cutting Kojima's name from promotional material leading up to the release of the game. This act of pettiness seemed to come from the current CEO of Konami wanted him out of the company for personal reasons. Not only that they didn't let Kojima even finish the game as anyone who's beaten the game will know.
This is bad enough but at The Game Awards that year Konami band Kojima from attending the event so he couldn't accept the award for all the hard work that he'd done. Luckily the show and crowd called Konami out on this and gave him a special shout out to the creator.
Luckily Kojima now has his own studio and put out his first game Death Stranding last year to great reviews. Meanwhile, Konami haven't been doing as well and seems to have largely moved away from videogames as a whole.
At least they didn’t just use their classic characters for something like a pachinko machine.
Oh wait…
