The Pro Skater games practically built the genre of extreme sports games and spawned so imitators. Even so, the games degraded in quality over the years and we hadn't had a mainline game in the franchise in a few years. Until fans heard about Pro Skater 5 and thought this would be a return to form. Oh, how wrong they were.

Activision had the Pro Skater license for several years and it was about to run out. So, they took the chance to makes some money by making a mainline entry in the series before it ran out and they couldn’t use the brand.

However, this led to a rushed development which ranked it as one of the worst games of that year. They rushed this game out the door to make some quick money and made it a mainline entry just to draw in fans.

The game had a day one patch that was double the size of the actual game. You'd think it wouldn't have many bugs and be polished but no. These are most of the stages and characters as the main disc only contains the first stage and a few skaters. If you don’t connect your console to the internet you don’t get the rest of the game. Not that you'r missing much anyway.

I’d suggest real skateboarding over this mess any day.
