10 Secret Open-World Bosses Everyone Missed

1. Bovine Defense Force Chort (The Witcher 3)

Although they made the prior two entries in the Witcher series, it was 2015’s The Witcher 3 that firmly put CD Projekt Red on the map.

A major reason why is its frequently playful and amusing tone, and while that’s usually related to something main man Geralt says or does, there are other sequences and interactions that result in full-bodied laughs.

For instance, there’s the Bovine Defense Force Initiative introduced with Patch 1.05, which deploys a high level Chort to punish Geralt if he continuously respawns and then kills cows and sells their hides for XP and crowns in White Orchard.

Interestingly, it can also be summoned (via the Hearts of Stone expansion pack) if your cow Gwent cards are defeated by an opponent.

Either way, Chort requires special conditions and knowledge to enact its rage, so it’s understandable that players may’ve passed it by.

Chort’s a relentless pursuer as well; in fact, it’s what might happen if Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 fused with a bighorn sheep or mountain goat. Despite killing Geralt quite easily (often with just one hit), though, it’s possible to turn the tables on Chort with enough poison.

So, why not see what happens?
