10 Secret Open-World Bosses Everyone Missed
2. Dragonlord (Elden Ring)
As arguably the greatest game FromSoftware ever made (especially with 2024’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC taken into consideration), 2022’s Elden Ring is undoubtedly beloved for its stellar bosses.
From the elemental challenge of Messmer and the fun combat of Godfrey, to the dynamic fluidity of Margot and the tension of Rellana, there’s no shortage of towering threats to keep protagonist the Tarnished on their toes.
Another chief combatant worth discovering is Dragonlord Placidusax, yet sadly, he remains unseen by countless players.
After all, the two-headed beast appears late into Elden Ring, and it’s required that another foe – the Fire Giant – be bested first.
Once that’s done, Placidusax is found around the Crumbling Farum Azula (at the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace) by descending the floating platforms outside of the temple – where some beastmen were conquered – and walking toward the empty grave (surrounded by ones with skeletons).
There, our hero will be prompted to “Lie down,” after which they’ll be taken to Placidusax’s arena following a cutscene.
Fortunately, defeating him is easier than finding him if the player has holy damage buffs and the Envoy Longhorn (which allows them to simply blow bubbles at Placidusax until his dead).
