10 Secret Ways To Win In Video Games You Had No Idea Existed

9. You Can Persuade Nere To Abandon The Absolute - Baldur's Gate 3

The Grymforge section of Baldur's Gate 3 involves a pretty convoluted conflict between three factions. The Absolute's cultist Nere is at the ancient site to recover an artifact, and he employs the help of Duergar slavers and their Gnome captives to dig his prize out, both of whom are absolutely fed up with his attitude.

You can support all three factions, but it's possible to mess something up along the way so that you end up with the most annoying one, Nere.

However, if this happens, you can secretly get something good out of this outcome anyway.

It turns out that if a failed check causes you to pick Nere over the other two factions, you can persuade him into abandoning the Absolute, ending up with a good outcome.

The check requires you to use a specific sequence of responses in dialogue, which is why not a lot of people know about it, but if you successfully trigger it, Nere will abandon the cult, and then you can use the mysterious artifact to nullify the effects of his brainwashing tadpole.

Curiously enough, it's the only instance when the artifact is used on someone who isn't going to join your party or camp, so it's definitely worth checking out just for this.
