10 Specific Reasons To Get Hyped For 2016's Biggest Games
2. The 'Active Cross' Battle System - Final Fantasy XV
The free-flowing combat with strategic elements, the potential heart-to-heart bro moments with the four members of the group, all included in the game that has had the longest development cycle out of all the games on this list. Final Fantasy XV will have to prove it was worth the 10 year wait. The gameplay looks outstanding, and that's due in large part to the game's buddy fighting system called Active Cross. It is a strategic system where you set the actions of your fellow fighters to automatically do what you instruct them to, like "attack", "magic", "technique", and "item." Much of the button mapping and strategic elements come prior to battle, as you can set them yourself. There are moments as well where you can pull off partner combos, leading to additional damage. Now although Noctis, the protagonist, is the only fully controllable character, it is through the Active Cross system and the ability to pull off these group combos, that each character is important to any hostile encounter, regardless of the fact only one of the four is controllable. It's a fighting system that fits the action RPG gameplay style, without sacrificing strategy or the importance of planning, prior to a fight. FFXV is finally coming out this year, and we shall see if it is that special game we've all been waiting for.
