10 Spiritual Successors To Classic Video Games
1. Shinobido Succeeds Tenchu
You may or may not know that From Software's Sekiro was intended to be a Tenchu game, however, that quickly became a different project. You can still see some of the cross over touches, but Sekrio became more focused on intense combat rather than stealth.
Stealth fans may want to consider the forgotten gem: Shinobido (and its sequel) that's actually made by the people who made Tenchu (Acquire). So, as expected, it retains the features and tropes of Tenchu too: The Sengoku period setting, ninja weapons and traps, as well as an emphasis on difficulty, all making it noteworthy.
It's a mixed bag in terms of quality, admittedly, but the series never really got a chance to shine, even though it builds on the Tenchu formula, particularly the sequel.
Maybe one day From Software will have designs to make a proper ninja stealth game, so we can get a proper taste of what modern consoles can offer. Here's hoping for a sequel and, more importantly, a proper entry in the Tenchu franchise.
