10 Star Trek Holodeck Programs We Want To Experience

8. The Kobayashi Maru Scenario

Whenever the Kobayashi Maru scenario is mentioned, it's easy to fantasise about how you'd fare in the no-win battle designed to test cadets in an impossible situation. Well, in Star Trek: Prodigy, the episode Kobayashi saw Dal pit himself against the famous training exercise, and it gave us a real hankering to jump in and have a go ourselves.

Dal had the computer pick some of Starfleet's finest to crew the bridge while he took the centre seat. Now, assembling the dream team for our bridge crew sounds like half the fun, but exactly who we'd have at each station is a discussion for another list...and easily three hours of debate. However, it's fun to think that there's practically enough versions of Spock running around now to crew the entire bridge if we so wished.

For the indecisive among us, just deciding whether or not to enter the Neutral Zone and rescue the disabled ship would be tricky enough. But this wargame is all about finding the leader within and facing the Klingon battle cruisers that await. Even if that means failure.

And there would be a strange reassurance in the fact it's a no-win scenario. While you're living your best life as a courageous captain, it wouldn't really matter if you made a mistake or two. After all, if the point is to lose, there's really no way to mess it up.
