10 Terrible Video Game Movies That Ruined Iconic Characters

8. Rayne - Bloodrayne

Resident Evil Wesker
Boll KG Productions

Bloodrayne has not stood the test of time like other female-oriented action games like Tomb Raider or Metroid. But the vampire-themed hack-and-slasher was a pretty big deal when it debuted in the early millennium. Because of the series' creative action, it was no surprise when it received the live-action treatment a mere three years after the original game's release.

Since the film was directed by Uwe Boll, (often hailed as the worst filmmaker ever), we all knew Bloodrayne was going to be rubbish. However, Boll cannot take full credit for the movie's disastrous reception since the actress portraying the titular character, Kristanna Loken, is beyond awful. Even though her co-stars, Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen, are hamming it up, they are endlessly entertaining. Loken, on the other hand, is more wooden than a forest. She may look the part and performs the fighting sequences well, but the viewer switches off when she starts talking.

Even though she played an emotionless robot in Terminator 3, she is somehow less emotional in this film. Although the sequels are pretty dire, they are more tolerable since Loken was replaced with a better actress.
